Masonry Painters in Leicester

Leicester Decorators are masonry painters covering Leicester and the surrounding suburbs. We paint rendered walls, painted brick elevations, gable ends, garden walls, and masonry structures across Stoneygate, Oadby, Clarendon Park, Knighton, and beyond.
- Rendered and painted brick elevations prepared and coated correctly
- Anti-efflorescence treatment for salt-stained masonry
- Masonry crack filling and surface preparation before painting
- Breathable masonry paints for period properties with older walls
- Stoneygate conservation area work with appropriate colour guidance
Masonry painting on Leicester’s older properties is not a straightforward repaint. Leicester Decorators prepares masonry properly rather than coating over problems.

Leicester’s Masonry Painting Specialists
Rendered Walls and Gable Ends
Rendered walls on Oadby 1930s–60s detacheds are among the most common masonry painting projects. The existing surface must be assessed for cracking, efflorescence, and hollow render.
Hollow-sounding render sections are not painted over. We flag these and advise on re-rendering before decoration.
Painted Brickwork
Some properties in Stoneygate and Clarendon Park have painted brickwork. Breathable masonry paints allow moisture vapour to pass through the film.
Leicester Decorators use breathable masonry systems on period properties as standard. Applying non-breathable coatings traps moisture.

Efflorescence Treatment and Conservation Area Work

Anti-Efflorescence Treatment
Efflorescence is the white crystalline salt deposits visible on masonry surfaces. We brush off surface deposits before applying a specialist masonry primer.
Painting over active efflorescence without this step causes the new coat to blister and fail.
Stoneygate Conservation Area
Stoneygate is a 93-hectare conservation area. Exterior colour choices should be consistent with the area’s character. Leicester Decorators are familiar with the guidance.
Permission is not required simply to repaint in the same or similar colour.
Here’s How It Works
1. Masonry Survey
We check the full elevation for cracking, hollow render, salt staining, and biological growth.
2. Biological Growth Treatment
Moss, algae, and lichen are treated with a fungicidal wash and removed.
3. Crack Filling and Surface Preparation
Hairline cracks and open joints filled with appropriate masonry filler.
4. Anti-Efflorescence Primer
Applied where salt staining is present. Allowed to cure before topcoat.
5. Masonry Paint Application
One or two coats of breathable masonry paint applied by brush, roller, or spray.
6. Inspection
The finished elevation is checked for full coverage and consistent finish.
